In the Project referred to, there is a description of the route and the construction of the relief road of the FV-1 dual carriageway between La Caldereta and Puerto del Rosario, the widening of the FV-3 and the relief road for the FV-2 from Puerto del Rosario.
To carry out the project, a route was proposed which would decrease as far as possible the negative conditions arising from the new dual carriageway for the nearby town centres, and the growth foreseen in town planning, adapting in this way to the forecasts of the Fuerteventura Island Organisation Plan (PIOF in Spanish). Also considered was the matter of saving the archaeological enclave of the Tinojay Ravine, as well as the area where houbara bustards can be spotted.
The corridor proposed is 16,500 metres in length, meeting the objective of connecting the Guisguey (FV-214) road with the zone of Puerto del Rosario (North), by means of a branch road which links it to the junction between the FV-1 and the FV-3. At the same time, the junctions are executed with the FV-10 (Tetir Junction) and with the FV-20 (Tesjuantes Junction). And the extension of the FV-3 towards Playa Blanca is designed with a new junction on the FV-3 (Playa Blanca Junction).
The characteristics of the route are::
- No. of lanes: 2 + 2, two in each direction.
- Lane width: 3.50 metres.
- External verges: 2.50 metres.
- Internal verges: 1.00 metre.
- External hard shoulders: 1.00 metre.
Number of new junctions: Five (5), located at la Caldereta, Guisguey, Puerto del Rosario Norte, Playa Blanca and Airport. And the remodelling of the junctions of the FV-3 with the FV- 20 and FV-10.
A total of eight (8) grade-separated crossings have been projected for the route.
